What's so wrong with having a wandering mind? Why don't we simply allow ourselves more space to be distracted, daydream and happily drift off from time to time? Using the marvelously meandering modal music of Alice Coltrane as a starting point, this essay makes a case for the exploratory, questioning and associative benefits of creatively getting lost.
